Cable TV SCC Did Not Breach Law

During an inspection in Slovakia Cable Company, s.r.o. (SCC), Telecommunications Office of the Slovak Republic (TO SR) found no violation of relevant legal regulations. Under an initiative by citizens, office checked how price are created and their levels for transmitting radio and television broadcasts via cable networks in the towns of Brezno, Handlova, Komarno, Kosice, Prievidza, Ruzomberok, Senica, Sala and Ziar nad Hronom.

SCC bought, and in September 2001 began providing, cable distribution in nine Slovak towns. As a new operator and service provider, the company could change the previous service provider's prices, and it made use of this possibility. A condition for changing original prices is that the new price is set in line with the law on prices. New prices may only cover economically justified costs and a fair profit. The TO SR did not discover any violation in setting the new price.
